Maths

Me and my partner did this question

On the weekend, Tylah made
a chocolate cake. If flour made
up 65% of the mixture, what
percentage of the cake was not
flour? (there is 100% in the whole cake)

For that question me and my buddy got the 65% and the 100% and took the 65% away from the 100% and that equaled 35% and thats how we got our answer!!

Water safety

I was so excited to go swimming. I just wanted to get in soon! We got our life jackets on and hopped into the boat. Once everyone was on, there was a storm. The boat was shaking. There was water getting sprayed at us. Soon the storm was over and the boat was wrecked. I was the first on the boat to get out. The people on our side made a huddle and went to the other side so they could go in with the huddle. It was supper fun I can't wait to do it next year!!!

Interchange

Interchange

When I heard that we were researching healthy pizzas I had this
weird feeling in my tummy and I said to myself "oh no, this is going to be so
boring" but when I heard more about it I was so excited!!
The next day, on Tuesday, I was so excited for the interchange as soon as
we were allowed to go I sprinted down. So did everyone else. As soon as we
got there we started getting all our ingredients and everything else. Soon we
could start and put all our toppings on. After a while we were done and
we put them in the oven. After everyones pizza was out of the oven we were
allowed to eat. Ours looked disgusting but we gave it a go. After the first
piece we were all like "That was delicious!" We wish we had made one for
each of us!!!

Swimming

I had butterflies in my tummy but I was also very excited!! We were almost at Pioneer Pool I was thinking of what group am I going to be in? Hopefully group four! Soon we get there and we take off our hats and walk inside. We go and get changed and then it is time to hop into the pool. First of all we have to do breaststroke. When we have done a length of that we get put in groups I was very excited because I was in group four. The people I have in my group is me (Charlotte,) Poppy, Evie, Mia, Heath, Travis, Kenny and Luke I can’t wait until we go into the lane pool it will be so fun!!

Visual Maths

During week 2, Room 15 and 16 learnt about graphs. With our math mate, we created our own graph.Maddi, Keahn and I created our graph about  food.
We were able to look and compare our graph to our peers. It was interesting to do maths without using numbers - instead, it was all visual!

Jolt

On Tuesday the 31st of July, I went to a Jolt workshop. This was a dance workshop where we did lots of different exercises and learnt lots of different dance moves.

Museum and Art Gallery trip

On Wednesday the 13th of June, Room 16 went to the Art Gallery and Museum.

At the museum we looked at the sun exhibition. We learnt a lot about the sun and even how solar power energy works! With the help of Anthony, we made models of solar powered cars in our groups.

We explored a range of different Māori artworks at the Art Gallery. Using what we learnt, we went back and created our own artwork.

Get NZ writting

I have been exploring metaphors and descriptive writing through the ‘Get NZ writing’. Here is two of my metaphors that I have created:

Charlotte is a juicy bright yellow pinapple relaxing on the golden sand.

Charlotte is a hot pink zooming fast lamborghini on the steaming hot highway.

Koru art

For the last couple of weeks I have been creating my own koru art based on the work of Raewyn Harris. She is a New Zealand artist and you can look at her work on this link.
I have enjoyed creating this masterpiece, and I hope you enjoy it too!

Poetry

In writing I have used a poem by James K. Baxter as a starting point to write my own poem. I hope you like it

My room was usual enough;
It had a bed, some toys and even a TV.
My brother, sister and I did what most kids do -
Play games, draw and paint pictures, make slime and watch netflix.

Doing nothing important.
